What are some great inspirational stories of JEE aspirants who have successfully battled poor marks in tests?

This is not my story but this is the story of one of the closest friends I have ever had.

We went to the same coaching institute and also we used to go for the resonance AITS together every weekend. Now our preparation was going pretty smoothly and our AITS marks and rank were more or less okay. We had a common pattern to our marks. She always scored more than me in JEE main level tests and I always scored more than her in JEE Advanced level tests, though the difference was mostly marginal.

Now with the exams approaching we got more serious with our preparation and finally it was time for the board exams.

She was strongest in mathematics but unfortunately on the day of CBSE Maths exam she started feeling sick in between the exam. Somehow she managed to write the exam and scored something close to 90.

Now it was time for JEE main, and she was serious about the exam. But somehow she managed to give her worst performance possible. She got a rank around 66 thousand. Just imagine a girl who used to score 200+ marks in all the mock tests scores something around 100. Needless to say her confidence was completely shattered.

The story doesn’t end here, after JEE main she started preparing for JEE Advanced. The big difference this time was that she did not have any expectations and she only focused on solving questions rather than focusing on cracking IIT.

She sat for JEE Advanced and secured a rank around 4000.

Right now she is studying Metallurgy and Material Science Engineering in IIT Kharagpur.

The jump from 66,000 to 4,000 is one of the most inspiring JEE preparation story that I have witnessed in front of my eyes.

Thanks.

21 Rules To Manage Your Corporate Facebook & Twitter Page

Having a corporate Facebook and Twitter page can help your business receive the online presence and branding that you deserve. Many of today’s consumers are turning to social media as a way to learn more about certain companies or brands, and they’re even using these platforms as a way to earn some customer service.

As a business, it’s very important that you know how to accurately manage your corporate social networks so that you’re providing your customers and followers with all the information and service they deserve. The following are 25 rules to help you manage your corporate accounts.

2. Use first person plural- When you’re tweeting or posting status updates about the business, never use first person singular (I) or third person (they, them, etc.). The posts and tweets are coming from the business as a whole, so stick with first person plural (our, we, us) instead.1. Have a plan- Before you tackle social media, make sure that you have a plan. Know which platforms you want to use, who will be in charge, and what type of content you’ll push out.

3. Automate, but don’t overdo it- Automation can ensure that your accounts are constantly being updated with new information, but make sure that it’s not the only form of communication you’re using.

4. Respond- When a customer or follower asks a question or leaves a comment on your page, respond. It will make your company stand out, and it will make the customer happy.

5. Set goals- Every company should have a goal in mind for their social accounts. Do you want to gain more followers? Do you want to earn referrals? Do you want to learn more about your target audience? Decide on a social media goal, and make sure to monitor your progress throughout the year.

6. Use images and videos- Some people think that Facebook and Twitter are only for words, but you can add pictures and videos too, and these are great ways to attract your followers.

7. Ask questionsOne of the best ways to entice conversation from your readers is to ask questions. Just make sure facebook and twitter are relevant to your business.

8. Use consistent tone and style- It’s important that the tone and style of your posts is always consistent. If it changes, it will confuse your followers.

9. Post consistently- Make sure that you’re posting consistently. If you post every day one week and then only once the following week, you’ll also confuse your readers.

10. Be professional- Using inappropriate language, being rude, or attacking a customer is a bad idea.

11. Use hashtags- If you’re using Twitter, make sure that you use relevant hashtags to help users find your content. Just keep it to three or less.

12. RetweetIf a follower says or posts something that interests you, retweet it or comment on it.

13. Designate a team- Designating a social media team or manager is very important because it ensures your pages are being monitored and it adds consistency to your image.

14. Post links- Be sure to link out to other sites or articles that interest you. You can even link back to your website, just don’t do it too often.

15. Separate your products- If your company has major products that have their own target audiences, you may want to create separate accounts for each. For example, Mars candy created separate accounts for each of their major candy bars.

16. Follow people- Don’t assume that people only need to follow you. Make sure to get out there and follow or friend important industry leaders or even competitors.

17. Be original- Make sure that you’re posting your own content every now and then and not simply linking to or retweeting everyone else’s.

18. Give thanks- If someone did something nice for your company, use social media to thank them publicly.

19. Use monitoring tools- Using tools like Google Alerts can help you keep track of what is being said about you.

20. Respond to negative comments- Don’t think that leaving a negative comment unanswered will make it go away. It won’t. Instead, respond and try to make it better.

21. Know your audience- Make sure that you know who’s following you and tailor your content to suit them.

Pitfalls Managers Must Avoid

As a manager, you must play many roles such as a coach, motivator, standards setter, instructor, performance evaluator, etc. You must choose which role to play depending on the situation you’re in and the goals you wish to accomplish. People may tell you to “just be yourself” but in reality, this advice is bad. Why? Because doing so may prevent you from applying the different roles you must enact.

One mistake managers tend to make is conceiving their role as being directive; that is, to tell others what to do, how to do it, and finally, to make sure it gets done correctly. Although this is necessary some of the time, if you wish to enable your employees to succeed, you must allow them to become self-directed. Hence, you must get their support and commitment, share power with them, and eliminate as many barriers as possible.

Not Knowing a Manager’s Responsibilities

Most professional managers agree that certain responsibilities are required of a manager regardless of where they work or who works under them. Supervisors are generally in charge of these six key functions:

1. Hiring – selecting candidates with necessary abilities or potential skills, confidence, and commitment needed to perform the job successfully.

2. Communicating – sharing the organization’s vision, goals, and objectives with your employees. Likewise, you are responsible to promote discussion as to what’s happening in your department, unit group, or business community.

3. Planning – deciding what work needs to be done in your department and seeing to it that the company’s goals are being met.

4. Organizing – determining the necessary resources for performing each job or project and designating duties and responsibilities for each of your employees.

5. Training – assessing the skill level of each worker and finding their weaknesses as well as providing a means of helping these individuals in overcoming them.

6. Monitoring – seeing to it that the work is being done and that every worker is succeeding in their assigned duties and projects.

The better you become at each of these functions, the easier you will find managing to be.

Not Expressing Genuine Concern towards Workers

Being a supervisor, employees look at you as a leader. Thus, you act as an interpreter between all workers. At the same time, you must be totally familiar with your company’s policies and rules.

Part of being a proficient leader entails expressing genuine concern towards your workers. This does not mean being “Mr. Nice Guy” or giving them flattery. What it does mean is taking on the burden of responsibility for your team and seeing to it that they are also being responsible for one-another. Quite often, new supervisors believe that expressing concerns will be interpreted as a sign of weakness. Wrong!
